OBON FESTIVAL 15.08.2023
08.08.2023
If in Vietnam we have the Vu Lan festival to be grateful for the upbringing of our parents, in Japan there is the Obon festival, also known as Bon festival, for people to remember their roots as well as appreciate gratitude from parents. Obon is a major Buddhist holiday celebrated in the summer in Japan. The time that occurs the festival can be different, but most of the place will take place from August 13th to August 16th of the solar calendar.
In addition to remembering ancestors, Obon is also an opportunity for the locals to rest and reunite with their families. Normally, on festival days, trains, flights and hotels are usually fully booked because the Japanese from all over will return to visit their families.
During the Obon festival, there will be a sacred fire offering ceremony, traditional Bon Odori dances or activities of releasing lanterns, floating lanterns on the river or along the coast. These are considered indispensable characteristics of this festival.
As normal, HANA Asia will organize a small event to send to clients as gratitude every month. This August event, HANA Asia will hold on August 15 – the day of the Obon festival in Japan, at 11:00 – 13:00 at the Co-working space with the desire to bring a special Japanese culture to come closer to Vietnamese customers and also help Japanese clients forget the homesickness.
HANA Asia hopes that you will arrange a time to attend with us. We hope these events will bring joy and memorable moments to you.
