In recent years, the trend of green living is not only a matter of concern to researchers, scientists, or corporations, but it is also an issue that everyone, especially young people, is interested in and spreads more and more strongly.
GenG is a phrase abbreviated from the word Green Generation – the green living generation, which is a healthy, sustainable lifestyle, minimizing the use of natural resources. Specific examples of green lifestyles are the promotion of afforestation; limit and minimize the use of plastic cups and spoons; limit the use of plastic bags; waste segregation; prioritize the use of clothes made from fabrics that are easy to recycle and safe for the environment,… The purpose of this lifestyle is to meet people’s current needs without depleting or depleting resources that affect future generations and to create a safe and healthy living environment for everyone.
GenZ millennials care about GenG!
According to market research by Fung Retail & Technology Group, GenZ attaches great importance to appearance because they are the first generation to mature in the period of strong development of social media, GenZ chooses green beauty as a new lifestyle and creates profound prerequisites for change for the massive industry, this is a difficult problem that corporations and businesses need to answer to be able to attract this young and potential customer.
Around the end of 2022, Panasonic launched the campaign “Together with Gen G, Live Green” with the desire to spread and create positive impacts, limiting climate change, environmental protection to join hands to build a community, a society with knowledge and a green lifestyle, healthy in the future and this campaign has received more than 300 individuals and groups registered with nearly 160 green initiatives submitted by young people. This shows that today’s youth, especially GenZ, are very concerned about their living environment.
How to live green?
- Eat green and drink green: prioritize choosing organic foods, limit the use of plastic products, disposable products, choose good kitchen products, cover the pot when cooking to limit energy consumption when cooking, turn off the stove when not in use, Unplug when not in use or replace plastic wrap with food storage utensils so as not to dump a lot of trash into the environment.
- Save energy and resources: participate in Earth Hour by turning off lights and electrical appliances when not in use, conserving water, using public transit to save fuel and limit emissions.
- Green living from daily life: prioritize choosing nature-friendly items, choosing to use easily recyclable and compostable materials such as wood and glass instead of plastic.
- Reuse and recycling: the time it takes for a plastic item to decompose will be up to 1000 years. So to “live green”, let’s reuse.
- Plant trees: just a potted green plant on the desk will also help the air be fresher, help you relax, comfortable to focus on work.
- Pay attention to sustainable fashion: instead of buying fast fashion items, consider sustainable fashion – fashion made from environmentally friendly materials such as natural cotton, drying clothes in the sun instead of using a dryer is also resource-saving and contributes to a green living environment.
It can be said that GenG is a generation that is aware of the change in consumer behavior quite strongly, towards the responsibility to protect the environment, the health of themselves, their families and society. However, any of us can contribute to create a green living space from the smallest things around us. HANA Asia has also been contributing a bit of its efforts to green living by planting trees in the office, using porcelain cups instead of plastic cups, turning off electric light devices when we do not use.
Let’s join HANA Asia to start a green – sustainable lifestyle to become “beautiful” GenG.
