We often hear that dopamine can help us be happy, but no one teaches us how to boost this happy hormone.

Dopamine is a hormone and a neurotransmitter, also known as a “feel-good” hormone, that plays an important role in the brain’s imaginary system. This hormone is associated with feelings of well-being along with learning, memory, physical system function, etc.

There are 12 substances we can add to boost dopamine as follows:

    1. Probiotics: probiotics are organisms that live along the digestive tract that not only promote gut health but probiotics also help prevent and treat various problems such as emotional disturbances and this only happens when there are beneficial bacteria in the intestinal tract that help produce dopamine, thereby helping to improve mood.
    2. Ginkgo biloba (Ginko biloba): originated in China but is now used by both the East and the West to make many medicines. Ginkgo, also known as ginko biloba, is most commonly found in brain supplements that increase cognition, memory, and motivation.
    3. Curcumin: an ingredient found in turmeric, commonly found in functional foods such as turmeric tablets, turmeric starch or in some types of collagen in water form.
    4. Green tea: a well-known antioxidant, but few people know that green tea also contains the amino acid L-theanine which increases a number of neurotransmitters in the brain, including dopamine.
    5. Magie: Shreds of evidence have shown that magnesium helps increase dopamine levels and reduce the risk of depression.
    6. Fish oil: many researches have shown that fish oil has antidepressant and morale-improving effects if we use it regularly.
    7. Vitamin D: necessary for bone growth and bone regeneration but vitamin D is also responsible for regulating certain neurotransmitters such as dopamine.
    8. Ginseng: In addition to its healthy effects, ginseng also enhances brain functions, including improving mood, behavior and memory.
    9. Caffeine: a lot of people know that caffeine helps to stay mentally alert, increasing human cognitive performance, including enhancing the release of neurotransmitters like dopamine.
    10. Mucuna Pruriens: is a tropical bean native to parts of Africa, India and South China that is often processed into dry powder and sold as a dopamine supplement. The most important compound found in wildcat beans is an amino acid called levodopa (L-dopa), which is needed by the brain to produce dopamine. This is also an important food for people with Parkinson’s disease and nervous system disorders because it helps increase dopamine content in the body. Wildcat beans may also help increase dopamine levels in people without Parkinson’s disease. In one study, taking 5 grams of wildcat pea powder for 3 months increased dopamine levels in infertile men.
    11. Oregano essential oil: dopamine supplement thanks to carvacrol – an active ingredient with many antioxidant and antibacterial properties. However, research on Oregano essential oil is only positive in animals, so it is necessary to wait for more time in human studies to determine whether the effect is similar or not.
    12. Berberine: extracts from several herbs and plants are commonly used in traditional Chinese medicine and recently berberine has become popular as a natural dopamine supplement for the body.

In addition, we can also increase dopamine by practicing physical exercise regularly, living healthily, thinking positively and laughing more, etc.
